Navigating the World of Digital Parenting with Expert Dr. Elizabeth Milovidov

Through all the unforeseen obstacles this pandemic has brought, one particular challenge has been the dramatic increase in screen time for our children. That’s why Grokker is thrilled to announce the release of our new program: Pandemic Parenting in a Digital World, with Dr. Elizabeth Milovidov. Even prior to the pandemic, our children were growing up in an increasingly digital world. Now, with even more of their lives being thrust online, parents are often worried about how this affects them, and how they too can navigate the world of digital parenting.

Understanding the Digital World

As we continue to expand our library of digital, holistic well-being resources, this two week program includes a total of nine videos, and is divided into two age groups: Ages 0-8 and Ages 9-17. Released just this past Monday, Pandemic Parenting has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the Grokker community. While many enjoy the “great tips and guidelines; practical and helpful advice” the program has to offer, others are thankful “for thinking of such a helpful program!”

Screen Shot 2021-03-31 at 5.45.38 PMDesigned and led by Digital Parenting and Internet Safety Expert Dr. Elizabeth Milovidov, the program breaks down her highly effective parenting solutions into three key steps – Awareness, Communication, and Engagement (ACE) – for each age group. Her program also includes a Pandemic Parenting Guide Book for parents to use in addition to the videos.

A graduate of UCLA and UC Davis, Dr. Milovidov earned her doctorate degree in International Relations and Diplomacy, and is an international speaker and educator on Internet safety. “I have the greatest job in the world because I get to talk to kids and explain the internet, social media, and video games to their parents, so that their parents can support them to use it responsibly and safely,” Dr. Milovidov shares in her video biography. As a consultant for the Council of Europe, UNICEF and e-Enfance, as well as a contributor to Internet Matters, UK Safer Internet Centre, and the Family Online Safety institute, Dr. Milovidov is passionate about helping parents gain the confidence and skills to raise children who thrive online while using technology safely and responsibly. In her program trailer she says “I’m so excited to share this clear and effective framework with you – you’ll gain a fuller understanding of the digital world, learn strategies for talking to your kids, and how to stay engaged in their online lives and enjoy healthy, digital experiences together!”
